Blue Ribbon Rum Barrel Swim-Through (Small)
Three weathered rum barrels spilled together on the sea floor, one standing with its lid off, one on its side with a hole right through it, and a third tipped against them. The open barrel and the side chamber both work as hideouts, and the through-hole is wide enough for small fish to swim clean through rather than just hover at the entrance. A nice bit of pirate scenery that actually earns its space in the tank.
Features
- Real swim-through, not just a cave. Blue Ribbon build these with large swim-through chambers and aeration holes, so water moves through the piece instead of going stagnant behind it.
- Somewhere to hide. New or shy fish settle faster with a dark space to claim, and barrels suit the smaller community fish that would rattle around inside a big cave.
- Cast poly-resin. Blue Ribbon cast true-to-life wood grain, hoops and rope texture into durable poly-resin, so the detail holds up and nothing leaches.
- Freshwater, saltwater or a terrarium. Blue Ribbon list it as safe for all aquariums and terrariums, and it works as a reptile hide just as well.
- Nothing to maintain. Rinse it in old tank water when you do a water change. No soap, ever.

Frequently Asked Questions
How big is the swim-through hole?
The piece is 6.75 in across and 3.75 in tall overall, so the opening suits small community fish, not a full grown cichlid. Bring a tape measure to the tank if you are sizing it for a specific fish.
Is it safe in a reef tank?
Blue Ribbon list it as safe for all aquariums. It is inert cast resin with nothing to dissolve.
Do I need to seal or soak it first?
No. Rinse it under plain water and put it in.
How do I clean it?
Lift it out at a water change and scrub it in the old tank water with a soft brush. Never use soap or detergent.
