Hikari PraziPro | Liquid Praziquantel for Freshwater & Saltwater Parasites
Hikari PraziPro is a ready-to-use liquid praziquantel treatment that targets flukes, internal and external parasitic worms, and tapeworms in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Praziquantel is one of the safest, most effective broad-spectrum dewormers available to hobbyists — it's reef-safe at the recommended dose and won't disrupt the biological filter in a healthy tank. PraziPro is the go-to first-line treatment for new arrivals showing flashing, scratching, or weight loss despite eating.
Available in 1 oz, 4 oz, 16 oz, and 1 Gallon sizes — please select your preferred size from the variant options above.

- Active ingredient: Praziquantel — broad-spectrum anti-parasitic, dewormer
- Treats: Gill and body flukes (monogenetic and digenetic trematodes), tapeworms (cestodes), and internal/external parasitic worms
- Suitable for: Freshwater AND saltwater — including reef tanks at recommended dose
- Reef-safe: Will not harm corals, anemones, or most invertebrates at the recommended dose
- Liquid format: Pre-mixed and easy to dose accurately — no powders to dissolve
- Treatment cycle: 5–7 days, may be repeated after a partial water change
- Dose: 1 mL per 5 US gallons (1 teaspoon ≈ 5 mL ≈ 25 gallons)
- Treatment duration: Leave in tank for 5–7 days. After treatment, perform a 25% water change and run carbon to remove residual medication.
- Repeat: May be repeated after a 25% water change if parasites persist or for prophylactic re-treatment.
-
Tank coverage by size:
- 1 oz (~30 mL) treats up to ~150 gallons
- 4 oz (~118 mL) treats up to ~590 gallons
- 16 oz (~473 mL) treats up to ~2,365 gallons
- 1 Gallon (~3,785 mL) treats up to ~18,920 gallons (great for QT systems and stores)
- Cautions: Remove chemical filtration (carbon, GFO, Purigen) before dosing — these will pull the medication out of the water. Always have backup aeration; oxygen levels may dip during treatment.

Is PraziPro reef-safe?
Yes — at the recommended dose of 1 mL per 5 gallons, praziquantel is generally considered safe for corals and most invertebrates. As with any treatment, observe sensitive species closely and remove chemical filtration before dosing. Some hobbyists prefer to dose in a separate quarantine tank to be cautious.
What does PraziPro treat?
It targets flukes (gill and body), tapeworms, and internal/external parasitic worms. It does NOT treat ich (Cryptocaryon/Ichthyophthirius), velvet, or bacterial infections — different pathogens require different medications.
How long do I leave it in the tank?
The standard treatment is 5–7 days. After treatment, do a 25% water change and run fresh activated carbon to remove residual medication. The dose may be repeated after the water change if parasites persist.
Will it harm my biological filter?
No. Praziquantel is gentle on nitrifying bacteria and will not crash a healthy biofilter. Continue running your filter as normal — just remove chemical media (carbon, GFO, Purigen) for the duration of treatment.
Freshwater or saltwater?
Both. PraziPro is one of the few treatments that works equally well in freshwater and saltwater, and is gentle enough for use in reef tanks at the recommended dose.
