Product description

Aquaforest Phosphate Minus is an efficient adsorption medium that pulls phosphate and silicate out of marine aquarium water. Overfeeding and heavy supplementing drive phosphate up, which fuels green algae and cyanobacteria. Phosphate Minus binds large amounts of phosphate without harming tank inhabitants, so it works in both new tanks (to prevent spikes) and mature tanks (to lower PO4 and stabilize water chemistry).

Part of the Aquaforest reef range. Run it in your filtration to keep nutrients low and protect your corals, and monitor results with regular water testing.

Features

  • Removes phosphate and silicate. Adsorbs large amounts of PO4 without affecting livestock.
  • Fights algae and cyano. Keeps nutrients low to prevent green algae and cyanobacteria.
  • New and mature tanks. Prevents spikes in new systems and lowers PO4 in established ones.
  • Reactor or filter sock. Use in a media reactor or passively in a filter sock.

How to Use

  • Dose 25 to 100 mL per 100 L (27 US gal) of aquarium water.
  • Place in a media reactor with a flow of at least 400 L/hr, or passively in a filter sock.
  • Do not rinse before use. The brown dust is active phosphate remover and is harmless to aquatic life; rinsing in RODI water lowers its efficiency.
  • Replace every 4 weeks, or sooner if phosphate rises.
  • The water may colour slightly at first. It clears on its own after a short time.

FAQ

What does Phosphate Minus do?
It removes phosphate and silicate from marine aquarium water, helping to control green algae and cyanobacteria.

How do I use it?
Run it in a media reactor with at least 400 L/hr of flow, or passively in a filter sock. Dose 25 to 100 mL per 100 L of water.

Should I rinse it first?
No. The brown dust is the active phosphate remover and is harmless. Rinsing in RODI water lowers its efficiency.

How often do I replace it?
Every 4 weeks, or sooner if your phosphate level climbs.
