Rod's Food Leafy Purple Seaweed (30g) | Certified Raw Seaweed for Tangs, Angels & Marine Herbivores
Rod's Food Leafy Purple Seaweed is premium, certified-raw purple seaweed in a leafy, chunky texture — not the brittle paper-thin sheets you'll find in most nori. The flavor and nutrients are still intact (never roasted), so your tangs, angels, and rabbitfish get the real thing: a constant grazing food that mimics what they'd be tearing off live rock in the wild. Clip a piece to your tank wall and watch herbivores swarm. Browse our full fish nutrition or shop all saltwater.
What It's For
Marine herbivores like Tangs, Angels, Rabbitfish, Foxface, and large herbivorous wrasses need constant grazing access to plant material. A wafer of pellets at feeding time isn't enough — they need to graze for hours like they would in the wild. A piece of Rod's Purple Seaweed clipped to the glass gives them exactly that, and the leafy chunky texture lets them tear and shred the way they're built to. Also great for marine snails like turbo and trochus.

How to Feed
Tear off a thumbnail-sized piece, clip it to your tank wall with a veggie clip, and let herbivores graze. Leave the clip in for 1–4 hours; remove any uneaten portion to avoid fouling the water. For tanks with multiple grazers, leave a piece in all day and refresh as needed. Store the unopened bag at room temperature; reseal tightly once opened.

FAQ
How is this different from regular nori?
Regular nori is roasted and pressed into thin sheets for human consumption. Rod's Leafy Purple is raw, never heat-processed, and stays leafy/chunky. The result is more flavor, more pigment, and more "graze appeal" for picky herbivores.
How long will a 30g bag last?
For a tank with one or two tangs, expect a 30g bag to last several weeks with daily feeding. Heavy stocking (multiple tangs, foxface, large angel) can churn through a bag faster.
My tang ignores nori — will it eat this?
The raw leafy form is usually a hit with fish that turn their nose up at processed sheets. The texture, smell, and movement in the current trigger natural grazing behavior. Give it 2–3 days for a hesitant fish to figure it out.
Will leftovers pollute my water?
Pull out uneaten pieces after 4 hours to keep the water clean. Like any food, leftovers will decompose if left indefinitely.
