Product description

In-store pickup only. This frozen food stays in our freezer until you arrive, so it reaches you solidly frozen.

San Francisco Bay Brand Krill are whole Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba), flash-frozen to preserve their rich protein and natural pigments. Krill is loaded with astaxanthin, the carotenoid that intensifies red, orange, and overall coloration, making it one of the best color-enhancing treats for carnivorous fish in both freshwater and saltwater tanks. It is a favorite of oscars, cichlids, and other large freshwater predators as well as triggers, lionfish, groupers, and clownfish. Each 3.5 oz box holds 30 pre-portioned cubes. Why Krill

  • Powerful color enhancer. Naturally high in astaxanthin, krill brings out vivid reds and oranges that many prepared foods cannot.
  • High-protein carnivore food. An ideal treat for predatory fish that need rich, meaty nutrition.
  • Fresh and saltwater carnivores. Readily accepted by oscars, cichlids, arowanas, triggers, lionfish, groupers, and large wrasses.
  • Pre-portioned cubes. Thirty individual cubes per box let you feed exactly what your tank needs with no thawing waste.

How to Feed

  1. Pop out one cube and thaw it in a small cup of tank water. Never microwave or refreeze.
  2. Feed as a treat 2 to 3 times per week alongside a staple flake or pellet.
  3. Offer only what your fish finish in a couple of minutes, then net out anything uneaten.
  4. Return the box to the freezer right away to keep the remaining cubes solid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is krill good for color?
Krill is naturally rich in astaxanthin, a carotenoid pigment that fish use to develop vivid red and orange coloration. Regular feeding helps intensify and maintain those colors.

Can I feed this to both freshwater and saltwater fish?
Yes. The box is formulated for all fresh and saltwater carnivores, from oscars and cichlids to triggers and lionfish.

How often should I feed it?
Feed it as a treat 2 to 3 times a week alongside a balanced staple diet. Krill is rich, so it is best as a supplement rather than a sole food.

How do I get it home still frozen?
We keep it in our freezer until you pick up, and we recommend an insulated bag such as the SFBB Fish Food Icebox for the trip home. Do not refreeze once it has thawed.
