Product description

Bring your pumps back to like-new flow. Sicce Pump Clean is a pure powder citric acid descaler that dissolves the calcium, limescale, and mineral buildup that slows aquarium pumps, powerheads, impellers, and filter parts over time. A regular soak keeps your equipment quiet, efficient, and moving water at full flow, which means a longer service life and lower running costs.

It works on both freshwater and saltwater gear. Pair it with the pumps and filters we carry, like the Sicce Syncra DC pump or the Whale canister filter, or browse all of our aquarium cleaning supplies.

How to use

  1. Dissolve the citric acid powder in warm water. A few tablespoons per quart is a good starting point for heavy buildup.
  2. Take apart the pump or powerhead and place the impeller and housing in the solution.
  3. Soak for 1 to 3 hours, longer for stubborn scale, until the deposits dissolve.
  4. Rinse every part thoroughly with clean fresh water before returning it to the aquarium.

One 900 gram jar covers many cleanings. The same powder also works as a general descaler around the house, on kettles and coffee makers.

FAQ

Is citric acid safe for my aquarium? Yes, when used correctly. It is a mild, biodegradable acid. Always rinse parts thoroughly with fresh water before returning them to the tank so no cleaning solution carries over.

How often should I clean my pump? Every 1 to 3 months is typical, more often in hard water or saltwater where scale builds up faster.

Will it damage plastic or rubber parts? No. Citric acid is gentle on impellers, O-rings, and housings while still dissolving mineral scale.

How much powder do I use? Start with a few tablespoons per quart of warm water and add more for heavier buildup. There is no need to measure exactly.
