The Fluval AquaClear Ammonia Remover Insert is your first line of defense against toxic ammonia. Made from natural zeolite, it uses ion exchange to pull ammonia straight out of the water, protecting fish in new, cycling, or heavily stocked freshwater aquariums. Sized for the AquaClear 70 and 110 filters, it is available as a single insert or a value 3-pack. Note that zeolite works in freshwater only and does not remove ammonia in saltwater.

How to Use

Rinse the insert and place it in the media basket of your AquaClear 70 or 110 filter. Zeolite has a finite capacity, so replace it once it stops controlling ammonia, usually within a few weeks. Avoid using it alongside ammonia-based medications or during a salt treatment. Because it can slow the natural cycle by removing the ammonia bacteria feed on, treat it as a short-term fix and rely on biological media like BioMax once your tank is established.
