Liquid Gardens Shrimp Candy Sticks
Liquid Gardens Shrimp Candy Sticks are a plant-based treat for freshwater shrimp, served on a thin stick you push into the substrate. The shrimp find it within minutes and graze on it for hours, which makes it as much a viewing event as a feeding. Eight sticks per pack. Browse our other fish and invertebrate foods.
Features
- Plant-based formula. Chlorella and spirulina algae, kelp, mulberry and nettle leaf, spinach, pea protein and bee pollen. Liquid Gardens built it around what shrimp graze on in the wild rather than around fishmeal.
- 32 percent protein. High enough to be worth feeding, with 25 percent fibre, which matters for animals that are grazing almost constantly.
- Feeds for hours. One stick holds together in the substrate instead of breaking up, so the colony works on it over a long session rather than a two minute scramble.
- Low residue. Liquid Gardens formulates it to minimise leftover waste in the tank, which is the usual complaint with powdered shrimp foods.
- Suits every common freshwater shrimp. Neocaridina such as Cherry and Blue Velvet, Caridina such as Crystal Red, and Amano. Small bottom feeding fish will pick at it too.
- Made in the USA. By Liquid Gardens LLC.
How to Feed
- Push one stick into the substrate, or lay it in a feeding dish if you run bare bottom.
- Let the colony graze on it over several hours.
- Pull out anything still left after a day, the same as you would with any supplemental food.
- Feed it as a treat alongside a staple shrimp food, not as the whole diet.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many sticks does one tank need?
One stick at a time is plenty for a normal colony. How often depends on how heavily you already feed, and a treat like this is usually once or twice a week.
Will it cloud the water?
It is formulated to hold together and leave little residue. Pull out the leftover stick after a day and you should not see any effect on the water.
Can my fish eat it?
Small bottom feeders will graze on it, but it is formulated for shrimp. It is not a substitute for a proper fish food.
Is it safe for Caridina as well as Neocaridina?
Yes. Liquid Gardens lists it for cherry, Amano, crystal red and other freshwater shrimp.
