Pink Valentine Koi Female Betta (Betta splendens)
The Pink Valentine Koi Female Betta (Betta splendens) is a hardy, eye-catching nano fish with a soft pink, white, and metallic koi-style marble pattern that is unique to every individual. Females are a little rounder and shorter-finned than males, full of personality, and a bit easier to mix into a community. Care level is beginner. Browse our other live freshwater fish to round out your tank.
Please note: because each betta is hand-picked and the koi marble pattern shifts as they grow, the exact fish you receive will vary slightly from the photo. You are welcome to choose your favorite in store.
Care Guide
Bettas are tropical fish that need a heated, filtered tank with gentle flow and easy access to the surface, since they gulp air through a special labyrinth organ. A single female is happy in 5 gallons or more; small groups and sororities need a larger, heavily planted tank with lots of sight breaks. Keep the lid on, as bettas are jumpers.
- Minimum tank size: 5 gallons for one female; 20 gallons or more for a sorority.
- Temperature: 78 to 82°F. A heater is required.
- Water: pH 6.5 to 7.5, soft to moderately hard. Keep filtration gentle.
- Diet: Carnivore. Feed a quality betta pellet as the staple plus frozen or freeze-dried bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia for variety and color.
- Cover: Provide live or silk plants, floating plants, and a cave or two. Resting spots near the surface and plenty of hiding places keep her calm and reduce squabbling.

Compatibility
A single female betta does great as the centerpiece of a peaceful community tank. Good tankmates include small peaceful schooling fish, corydoras catfish, kuhli loaches, otocinclus, nerite snails, and (with a watchful eye) Amano or cherry shrimp. Avoid known fin-nippers like tiger barbs, keep her away from male bettas, and skip large or aggressive cichlids. If you want to keep several females together as a sorority, plan on a group of five or more in a larger, densely planted tank so aggression is spread out.

FAQ
Can I keep two female bettas together?
Only as part of a proper sorority of five or more in a large, heavily planted tank. Keeping just two or three often leads to bullying. A single female is the easiest, safest option.
Does she need a heater?
Yes. Bettas are tropical and need stable water in the upper 70s. A small adjustable heater is essential.
Will her colors stay the same?
Koi and marble bettas are known for shifting patterns. Her pink, white, and dark markings may move and change as she matures, which is part of the fun.
What size tank does she really need?
Five gallons is a comfortable minimum for one female, with a heater, filter, and lid. Bigger is always better and makes water quality easier to maintain.
