PolypLab Pro Carbon
Keep your water crystal clear with PolypLab Pro-Carbon, an ultra high performance activated carbon for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Its low-dust pellet form and very low phosphate leaching let it rapidly pull dissolved organics, yellowing compounds, odors, and residual medications out of your water, improving clarity and light penetration for healthier corals and fish. It comes in four sizes, from a 500 mL jar to a 14 L bulk bucket, so there is a right fit for everything from a nano tank to a large reef system. Why Pro-Carbon
- Ultra high performance activated carbon manufactured under strict quality controls.
- Pelletized form reduces dust and fine grains, so rinsing is quick and your reactor stays clean.
- Very low phosphate, one of the lowest concentrations in the industry, so it will not feed nuisance algae.
- pH balanced and safe for reef, marine, and planted freshwater systems.
- Removes dissolved organics, tannins and yellowing agents, odors, and leftover medication after treatments.
Choose Your Size
| Size | Volume | Approx. Weight | Ideal For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 mL | 0.5 L | ~250 g | Nano and small aquariums |
| 1000 mL | 1 L | ~500 g | Medium to large aquariums |
| 4 L | 4 L | ~2 kg | Large tanks and media reactors |
| 14 L | 14 L | ~7 kg | Big systems and bulk users |
How to Use
- Rinse the carbon thoroughly with RO/DI or dechlorinated water until it runs clear.
- Place it in a media bag, filter sock, or media reactor in an area of strong flow.
- As a starting guideline, use about 1 cup (roughly 200 mL) per 50 gallons of aquarium water.
- Replace every 3 to 4 weeks, or sooner if water clarity or color starts to return.
Running carbon in a reactor gives the best contact and results, but a media bag in your sump or hang-on filter works well too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Pro-Carbon in a freshwater tank?
Yes. It is formulated for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, including reef and planted setups.
Do I need a reactor?
No. A media bag in a high-flow area works fine, though a reactor gives the most efficient contact.
How often should I replace it?
Every 3 to 4 weeks is typical. Replace sooner if you notice water yellowing or clarity dropping.
Will it remove medication?
Yes. Carbon is excellent for removing leftover medication and coral-dip residues, which is why many hobbyists run it after a treatment.
