Product description

Seachem Betta Basics is a complete water conditioner made specifically for betta bowls and small planted setups. It removes chlorine and chloramine, detoxifies ammonia, and gently buffers your water to a stable, betta-friendly pH of 7.0, so every water change leaves your fish in a safe, comfortable home. It pairs naturally with the rest of our water care and treatments for freshwater keepers.

Why Betta Keepers Reach for It

  • Removes chlorine and chloramine from tap water on contact, so refills are safe to pour back in.
  • Detoxifies ammonia, protecting your betta between water changes in bowls and small tanks that cycle slowly.
  • Buffers to a stable pH 7.0, the neutral sweet spot bettas prefer, and helps hold it there.
  • Safe with your fish in the bowl, so there is no need to net or move your betta before dosing.
  • Great for planted bowls, creating a comfortable environment for bettas and live plants alike.

How to Use

Add 5 mL (one capful) per gallon, about 4 L, of new or replacement water at every water change. Betta Basics is safe to use with your fish in the bowl. For best results, dose with each water change and top-up. Shake well before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need a separate dechlorinator?
No. Betta Basics already removes chlorine and chloramine, so it replaces a plain conditioner for betta bowls and small setups.

Is it safe to add with my betta in the bowl?
Yes. Dose it directly into the new water at each change; there is no need to move your fish.

Will it work in a filtered, cycled tank?
Absolutely. It conditions tap water and detoxifies ammonia in any freshwater setup, and is especially handy for small, lightly filtered betta tanks.

How is it different from Seachem Prime?
Betta Basics is tuned for small betta volumes and also buffers pH toward a neutral 7.0, while Prime is a concentrated all-purpose conditioner for larger tanks.
