Seachem Tidal Zeolite
Seachem Tidal Zeolite is a rapid ammonia remover for the Seachem Tidal series of hang on back power filters, pre-portioned into a ready-to-use pouch sized for your filter. Zeolite is a naturally porous mineral that binds ammonia and heavy metals straight out of the water by ion exchange, giving you fast chemical control when ammonia climbs. It has the highest ammonia binding capacity of any available zeolite and works in both marine and freshwater aquariums.
Use it as your chemical ammonia stage alongside the Tidal Foam mechanical sponge and Tidal Matrix biomedia, swap in Tidal Matrix Carbon for organics and odors, or browse more filter media and cartridges.
What It Does
- Binds ammonia fast. Pulls free ammonia straight out of the water by ion exchange, ideal for new tanks, ammonia spikes, and heavily stocked systems.
- Removes heavy metals. Also captures dissolved heavy metals that can stress fish and invertebrates.
- Highest-capacity zeolite. Seachem's zeolite holds more ammonia than standard products, so a compact pouch does a lot of work.
- Marine and freshwater. Formulated for both. It will not deplete calcium in saltwater or raise hardness in freshwater.
- Ready to use. Pre-bagged in a Tidal-sized pouch that drops straight into the media basket.
Choose Your Size
Each pouch is portioned to fit one Tidal model's media basket. Match the number on the pouch to the number on your filter.
| This pouch | Zeolite | Fits filter | Filter rated for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tidal 35 | 120 mL | Seachem Tidal 35 | up to 35 gallons |
| Tidal 55 | 190 mL | Seachem Tidal 55 | up to 55 gallons |
| Tidal 75 | 250 mL | Seachem Tidal 75 | up to 75 gallons |
| Tidal 110 | 375 mL | Seachem Tidal 110 | up to 110 gallons |
How to Use
- Place the pouch in your Tidal's media basket after the foam sponge so debris does not clog it.
- Best for targeted ammonia control: cycling a new tank, a sudden spike, transport, or a hospital tank.
- Zeolite fills up over time. When ammonia starts to register again, remove and replace the pouch. Freshwater zeolite can also be regenerated by soaking it in a strong non-iodized salt solution, then rinsing.
- For long-term filtration, pair it with permanent biomedia so your beneficial bacteria keep carrying the load.
Complete the Tidal System
- Seachem Tidal Foam: the mechanical stage that traps debris first
- Seachem Tidal Matrix: permanent biomedia for long-term biological filtration
- Seachem Tidal Matrix Carbon: removes odors, colors, and dissolved organics
- Seachem Tidal Polishing Pad: a 50 micron fine pad for polished, crystal-clear water
Frequently Asked Questions
Which pouch do I need?
Match the number to your filter. A Tidal 75 filter uses the Tidal 75 pouch. The number is printed on your filter and on the box.
How long does it last?
It depends on your ammonia load. Once ammonia begins to register on a test again, the zeolite is full. Replace it, or regenerate freshwater zeolite in a salt solution.
Freshwater or saltwater?
Both. Seachem's zeolite is formulated for marine and freshwater and will not deplete calcium or raise hardness.
Can I use it while cycling a new tank?
Yes, it keeps ammonia safe during cycling. Once you remove it, let your biological media carry the load going forward.
