Product description

Sold in-store only. Not available for online purchase.

The Easy Flow Air Collar in black. This is the part that turns the air coming down your airline into a column of fine bubbles, which is how an Aquarium Co-Op sponge filter works without an air stone. Sold on its own as a spare or a replacement, so you can fit a clean one and wash the old one at your leisure.

Check your filter first. This collar is not compatible with Nano sponge filters sold before December 2023. Aquarium Co-Op changed the fitting. If your Nano filter predates that, bring it in and we will check it against one.

Features

  • Smaller bubbles. Finer bubbles move more water per unit of air than big ones, so the filter shifts more flow on the same pump.
  • Quieter. Fine bubbles make less noise breaking at the surface than the coarse chug of a bare uplift tube.
  • No air stone needed. The collar does the job, and unlike an air stone it comes apart to be scrubbed rather than being thrown away when it clogs.
  • Worth having a spare. Swap a clean one on at maintenance time and wash the dirty one afterwards, instead of leaving the filter off while it dries.

Fitting It

  1. Push the air collar onto the slip-fit bullseye on top of the sponge filter.
  2. Attach your airline tubing to the top of the collar.
  3. Clean it as part of normal filter maintenance, scrubbing the holes so algae and debris do not block them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need an air stone?
No. The collar replaces it.

How do I know if my Nano filter is old enough to be a problem?
If you bought it before December 2023 it may not take this collar. Bring the filter in and we will try one on it.

How do I clean it?
Scrub the holes clear when you wash the sponge. Debris and algae in the holes are what make a collar stop producing fine bubbles.
