Fluval AC50 Zeo-Carb

The Fluval AquaClear Zeo-Carb is a two-in-one replacement insert for the AquaClear 50 (AC50) power filter. It combines activated carbon, which pulls out odors, discoloration, and dissolved organics, with natural zeolite, which absorbs toxic ammonia. Together they polish the water and take the stress off your fish, making it a great choice for newly set up or heavily stocked tanks. Because it contains zeolite, Zeo-Carb is a freshwater media. Formerly sold as AquaClear Zeo-Carb.

How to Use

Rinse the insert, then set it in the AquaClear media basket above the foam. It starts working right away and is most useful while a tank is cycling or when the bioload is high. Both the carbon and the zeolite gradually exhaust, so replace the insert about every three to four weeks, or sooner if odors or ammonia return. Remove it while dosing medications, since the carbon will adsorb them.

FAQ

Which filter does this fit? The AquaClear 50 (also sold as the Fluval AC50), rated for 20 to 50 gallon aquariums.

Can I use it in saltwater? No. The zeolite half only removes ammonia in freshwater, so use Zeo-Carb in freshwater tanks. For saltwater, run plain Activated Carbon.

How often should I replace it? Every three to four weeks, or sooner in a new or crowded tank once odors or ammonia return.

Zeo-Carb or separate carbon and ammonia remover? Zeo-Carb is the convenient all-in-one; running the two media separately lets you dial in exactly how much of each you use.
