Fritz ParaCleanse
Fritz ParaCleanse is a two-in-one parasite treatment that pairs praziquantel with metronidazole to knock out the most common internal and external parasites in one course: velvet, hole-in-the-head (Hexamita), fish lice, gill and skin flukes, and tapeworms. It comes as fast-dissolving powder packets pre-measured for 10 gallons each, works in both freshwater and saltwater, is safe for plants and invertebrates, and will not discolor your water. Keep it on hand for quarantine and you will never scramble when a new fish shows up scratching. Browse the rest of our fish medications for the right tool for any outbreak.

- Two actives, one treatment. Praziquantel and metronidazole together cover flukes, tapeworms, velvet, Hexamita, and fish lice.
- Fresh and salt water. One product for community tanks, reef quarantine, and marine systems.
- Safe for plants and inverts. Use it in planted and reef tanks without pulling your shrimp or snails.
- Pre-measured packets. Each packet treats 10 US gallons, no scale or scoop math.
- Clear water. Dissolves fast and does not stain the water or silicone.

Choose Your Size
| Size | Doses | Treats | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Doses | 10 packets | 100 gallons total | A quarantine tank or a single small display |
| 20 Doses | 20 packets | 200 gallons total | Larger tanks or a full multi-dose course |
| 100 g Bulk Jar | Bulk powder | 1,000 gallons total | Fish rooms, breeders, and stores |
How to Use
Dose 1 packet per 10 US gallons (38 L) of aquarium water; for the bulk jar, follow the label's measured dose for the same rate. A hospital tank is recommended. Before treating, remove chemical filtration such as carbon or resins, turn off any UV sterilizer, and in marine tanks switch off the protein skimmer until the course is complete. Keep aeration and flow running. Avoid water changes during treatment if you can. Follow the package directions for the number and spacing of doses. The actives can suppress nitrifying bacteria, so test ammonia and nitrite during treatment; an ammonia remover such as Fritz A.C.C.R. may be used alongside it.
What It Treats
- Velvet (Oodinium dinoflagellates)
- Hole-in-the-head disease (Hexamita, Spironucleus)
- Gill and skin flukes (Dactylogyrus, Gyrodactylus)
- Tapeworms and fish lice
Watch for spots, clamped fins, flashing or scratching, rapid breathing, and weight loss with a good appetite. Treat suspected parasites promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I treat in the display tank? A hospital tank is best, but ParaCleanse is plant- and invertebrate-safe if you must treat in place. Pull carbon and turn off UV and the skimmer first.
Is it reef safe? It is safe for invertebrates and will not discolor water, but any medication in a reef should be a last resort; quarantine new fish instead.
Will it hurt my biofilter? It can slow nitrifying bacteria. Test ammonia and nitrite through the course and use A.C.C.R. if they rise.
What does one packet treat? 10 US gallons. The 10-dose box covers 100 gallons of treatment, the 20-dose box 200, and the 100 g jar about 1,000.
