Pearl Weed (Micranthemum micranthemoides)
Pearl Weed (Micranthemum micranthemoides) is a fast growing, easy stem plant prized for its small, bright green leaves and the oxygen pearls it releases under good light. It is one of the most versatile plants in the hobby: let it grow tall in the background, trim it for a lush midground, or keep it cropped under strong light for a soft foreground carpet. Sold as a potted plant.
Pearl Weed is a great beginner plant that adapts to a wide range of conditions. It grows faster and stays more compact under brighter light, and CO2 makes it denser and encourages carpeting, though neither is required. Plant individual stems into the substrate a small distance apart and trim regularly to shape. Replant the trimmings to fill in gaps and thicken growth.

Is Pearl Weed good for beginners?
Yes. It is fast, forgiving, and grows well even in low tech tanks without CO2.
Will it form a carpet?

No. CO2 is optional and simply makes growth denser and faster.
Is it safe for shrimp?
Yes. Pearl Weed is a favorite in shrimp tanks and provides excellent cover for shrimplets.
