SFBB Rotifer Mini Cube 1.75oz
SFBB Frozen Rotifers are cubes of whole rotifers (Brachionus plicatilis), a microscopic zooplankton that is one of the best foods you can offer a reef tank. Their tiny size makes them ideal for feeding corals, filter-feeding invertebrates, and the fry of marine fish, and they work just as well as a fine treat for small nano fish in fresh or salt water. Each 1.75 oz box holds 36 pre-portioned mini-cubes, sized for desktop and nano aquariums.
Pair them with other frozen favorites like Ocean Nutrition Frozen Brine Shrimp and Piscine Energetics PE Mysis, or browse all of our frozen and prepared foods. Building a reef? See our corals and saltwater livestock.
Why frozen rotifers
- Built for reef feeding. Rotifers are small enough for LPS and SPS corals, feather dusters, sponges, and other filter feeders to actually capture and eat.
- A proven first food. They are the classic starter food for marine fish larvae and fry, including clownfish and seahorse babies, when live cultures are not on hand.
- Convenient and clean. Frozen cubes give you live-food nutrition without keeping a rotifer culture going, and the individual mini-cubes mean no waste.
- Sized for small tanks. The 36 mini-cube pack suits desktop and nano aquariums, refugiums, and grow-out tanks.
- Safely processed. San Francisco Bay Brand freezes its rotifers to help reduce the parasites and bacteria that can come with live food.
How to feed
Thaw one mini-cube in a small cup of tank water for a minute or two. For corals and filter feeders, turn off the return pump and skimmer for a few minutes and target-feed with a pipette or turkey baster; for fry and small fish, pour the thawed rotifers into the water column. Feed a couple of times a week for general reef feeding, or daily in small amounts when raising larvae. Remove anything left uneaten, and do not microwave or refreeze a thawed cube.

FAQ
What eats rotifers?
Corals and other filter feeders, marine fish fry and larvae, seahorses, and small-mouthed nano fish. They are one of the most useful foods for a reef tank.
Are these a replacement for live rotifers?
For most reef feeding and for feeding fry, yes. Frozen rotifers give you the same tiny food without the work of keeping a live culture going.
Can I feed them in a freshwater tank?
Yes. While rotifers shine in reef tanks, they are also a fine small food for freshwater fry and nano fish.
How long does a box last?
Kept solidly frozen, the cubes stay good for months. Just avoid thaw-and-refreeze cycles, which break down the food and can foul your water.
