Vitalis Cichlid Herbivore Pellets 1.5mm
Vitalis Cichlid Herbivore Pellets are built for the grazing cichlids of Lake Malawi and Tanganyika. Mbuna and tropheus scrape algae off rock all day in the wild, and their long gut cannot handle the rich food a peacock or hap eats. This pellet keeps protein at 37% and fills the rest with algae, spirulina and vegetable matter, so the fish get color and growth without the bloat that kills so many mbuna on the wrong diet. For peacocks, haps and American cichlids use the Vitalis Cichlid Carnivore Pellets. See all freshwater dry foods.
Features
- 37% protein with a heavy algae and spirulina base, matched to a grazing gut
- Soft, slow-sinking 1.5mm pellet for fish from 1.5 to 5 inches
- Natural pigments for the blues and yellows of Labidochromis and Metriaclima
- Stable in water up to 24 hours, low leaching
- 140g resealable pot, made in the UK by World Feeds
Who it is for
Mbuna including Labidochromis, Pseudotropheus, Metriaclima, Melanochromis, Labeotropheus and Cynotilapia, plus Tropheus, Petrochromis and other grazers from Lake Tanganyika. Also a safe staple for a mixed Malawi tank.
Feeding Guide
Feed small amounts two or three times a day rather than one large meal; grazers are built to eat little and often. Only what is eaten in two minutes. Fast the tank one day a week and never feed mbuna beef heart, bloodworm or high protein pellets.

FAQ
My mbuna are bloated. Is this the fix? It is the right diet going forward, but a fish that is already bloated needs treatment. Talk to us about the fish before buying more food.
Can peacocks and haps eat it? Yes. In a mixed Malawi tank feed everyone the Herbivore Pellets; it is the safe choice.
Is 1.5mm big enough for adult mbuna? Yes for fish up to about 5 inches. Larger tropheus and petrochromis will also take it happily.
