Anubias Nancon - Potted
Anubias 'Nancon' is the sleeker side of the anubias family: a hybrid of Anubias nana and Anubias congensis with elongated, gently pointed leaves that stand more upright than the classic rounded barteri look. The result reads almost like a small sword plant, but with every anubias virtue intact: thriving in low light, indifferent to water chemistry, ignored by plant-eating fish, and happy glued to a rock for the next decade. Care Guide
- The anubias rule: never bury the rhizome. Attach it to rock or driftwood with super glue gel or thread, or wedge it into hardscape gaps. Only the thin roots may go into substrate.
- Light: low to moderate. It earns its keep in the dim spots where nothing else grows; strong light mostly grows algae on the leaves.
- Water parameters: 72 to 82°F, pH 6.0 to 8.0, soft or hard. Genuinely unbothered.
- Fertilizer: feeds from the water column; occasional Seachem Flourish keeps new leaves coming. No CO2, no root tabs.
- Growth: slow and steady. Divide the rhizome when it grows long and each piece becomes a new plant.
- Tank mates: shrimp safe, betta approved, and tough enough for goldfish, cichlids, and turtles.

FAQ
How is Nancon different from other anubias?
The congensis parent gives it longer, pointier, more upright leaves than the round-leaved barteri types, so it adds height and a different silhouette while needing exactly the same easy care.
Can I plant it in gravel or sand?
Only with the rhizome fully exposed on top of the substrate. Attaching it to hardscape is safer and shows off the upright leaves better.
Why is it growing so slowly?
That is normal anubias pace, a leaf or so a month. In exchange it never needs trimming, never melts down, and lives for years.
Is it safe with plant-eating fish?
Yes. Thick, bitter leaves make anubias the standard choice for goldfish, cichlid, and turtle tanks.
