Anubias 'Nangi' is a classic hobbyist-made hybrid, a cross of Anubias nana and Anubias gigantea that landed in a sweet spot neither parent occupies: elegant spear-shaped leaves with a gentle wave, on a plant that stays compact but grows noticeably faster than most anubias. Care Guide
- The anubias rule: never bury the rhizome. Attach it to rock or driftwood with super glue gel or thread, or wedge it between hardscape. Buried rhizomes rot; exposed ones live for years.
- Light: low to moderate. Nangi tolerates dim corners happily; bright light mainly invites algae onto the leaves.
- Water parameters: 72 to 82°F, pH 6.0 to 8.0, soft or hard. Genuinely unfussy.
- Fertilizer: feeds from the water column. Occasional Seachem Flourish keeps new leaves coming steadily.
- Growth: quick for an anubias, which still means relaxed. Divide the rhizome once it gets long and every piece with leaves becomes a new plant.
- Tank mates: shrimp safe, betta approved, and tough enough for goldfish and most cichlids.

What makes Nangi different from other anubias?
It is a hybrid of tiny nana and towering gigantea, giving it a unique leaf shape, a middle size, and faster growth than either the dwarf varieties or the big species.
Can I plant it in substrate?
Only with the rhizome fully exposed on top. Attaching it to hardscape is safer and shows the plant off better.
Is it safe with plant-eating fish?

Why are the leaves getting algae?
