Aqua Worx Sand Waterfall Tank Kit A2 (30cm)

The Aqua Worx Sand Waterfall Tank Kit A2 turns a 9.5 gallon rimless tank into a falling sand display. A small pump siphons sand from the base of the resin rock, carries it up to an opening near the top and lets it pour back down in a steady stream, over and over, with no refilling. Everything you need for the effect is in the box, so you add water, plants and livestock and you are done. Fill it out with live plants and a few shrimp or snails.

• Self-sustaining sandfall. Aqua Worx builds a sand reservoir into the resin piece to feed the pump, which is what keeps the waterfall running continuously.
• Adjustable flow. The pump can be turned up or down to change how fast the sand falls.
• Pre-sculpted A2 hardscape. The A2 rock is a single sweeping ridge that curls over at the crest like a breaking wave, and the sand spills off the curl into the tank below.
• Rimless high-clarity glass. 5 mm glass with no plastic frame, 30 x 30 x 40 cm, which stands taller than it is wide and suits the vertical scape.
• Everything runs on USB. The filter, the sandfall pump and the light are all USB powered.
• Clip-on ring light. A gooseneck LED ring with an inline controller on the cord, 12 white plus 2 blue and 2 red LEDs.

How the Sandfall Works

Aqua Worx describes the mechanism plainly: a small, hidden pump draws sand out of the base of the resin decor and sends it up to an opening near the top, which is what makes the fall continuous. Setup is the same idea in reverse: add the supplied sand to the concave area of the rock, fill the tank with water, and switch the pump on. The internal filter is separate from the sandfall pump and handles the actual water filtration.

No heater is included, and none of the four kits ship with one. For a betta, shrimp or any tropical fish you will want to add one.

Specifications

Aqua Worx makes the sandfall kits in four styles, and the difference is the shape of the resin rock. This is the A2 wave in the 30 cm tank. We also stock the C1 style, a tall craggy pinnacle with an overhanging ledge, in the same tank. A1 and B1 come in a smaller 20 cm tank and we can order either one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the sand ever need topping up?
No. The sand cycles: it collects in a reservoir built into the resin rock, the pump lifts it back to the top opening, and it falls again. Aqua Worx calls it self-sustaining.

Can I use sand I already have?
Plan on the sand that comes with it. Aqua Worx supplies a specific cosmetic sand for the effect and tells you to use the provided sand, and grain size and weight are what make it travel up the pump and fall cleanly. Replacement sand is available, just ask and we will order it.

What can I keep in a 9.5 gallon tank like this?
Shrimp, snails, a betta, or a small group of nano fish, with live plants. Add a heater for anything tropical, and stock it slowly while the tank cycles.

Is a heater or a stand included?
No. The kit covers the tank, the hardscape, the filter, the sandfall pump, the light and the sand. A heater and a stand or a solid piece of furniture are on you.

Do the parts break down over time?
Aqua Worx sells the pump, the sand and the resin piece separately, so a worn pump or a lost bag of sand does not mean a new kit. We can order those through our distributor.
