ATI ICP Element Iodine is a high-purity, single-element iodine solution for precisely adjusting iodine levels in reef aquariums. It is part of ATI's revised ICP Elements line, developed and tested in the ATI Lab in Germany, and ATI designs it both for correcting an acute deficiency and for maintaining the daily supply. Why iodine matters
- Color and tissue: Iodine is vital for blue and violet pigments; a deficiency gives a washed-out look and weakens tissue in species such as Xenia and Zoanthus.
- Resistance: Proper iodine levels make corals less susceptible to bacterial infections and parasites.
- Molting: Shrimp and crabs need iodine to make their molting hormone; too little can cause failed molts or death.
- Fish metabolism: Fish need iodine for thyroid function.
Common causes of a deficiency (per ATI): fast biological uptake in brightly lit tanks plus removal by skimming, activated carbon, ozone and UV. Iodine is volatile, so it needs regular balancing.

- Standard dose: 1 mL per 100 L (26 gal) raises iodine by 10 µg/L
- Safe daily limit: raise iodine by no more than 20 µg/L per day (2 mL per 100 L)
