Why rubidium matters
- Mushroom corals: ATI links rubidium deficiency to the decline of corallimorphs, including high-end Bounce mushrooms.
- Biological stability: Its full metabolic role is still being researched; it is thought to support cellular functions alongside other alkali metals.
- Often left out: Rubidium is an expensive raw material, so budget salt mixes and trace blends frequently omit it.
Common causes of a deficiency (per ATI): salt mixes or trace blends that leave rubidium out to save cost, plus natural consumption over time.
