Product description

Vitachem Fresh is Boyd Enterprises' freshwater-specific multivitamin supplement — a vitamin-rich liquid you add directly to the tank or soak into dry foods to boost immune health, color development, and overall vigor in tropical fish, livebearers, cichlids, axolotls, and freshwater shrimp. The same trusted formula aquarists have used for decades, reformulated for freshwater systems. Stock up alongside our other additives & supplements and fish foods.

Why Vitachem Fresh

  • Complete freshwater vitamin profile — water-soluble vitamins (B-complex, C) plus fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E) in a balanced liquid that fish actually absorb.
  • Two ways to dose — add directly to the aquarium for ambient vitamin uptake through gills and skin, or soak dry foods to enrich what your fish are already eating.
  • Boosts color and resilience — supports natural color expression, immune function, and stress recovery during quarantine, treatment, or new arrivals.
  • Excellent for picky eaters and finicky species — drives appetite in fish that have stopped eating and helps support recovery after illness or shipping stress.
  • Safe for plants, shrimp, and snails — no copper, no harsh chemistry; gentle enough for delicate planted and shrimp-keeper systems.

How to Use

  • Direct dosing: Add the label-recommended drops per gallon directly to the aquarium 2–3 times per week.
  • Food soaking: Place a few drops on flake, pellet, or frozen food and let it absorb for 30–60 seconds before feeding — especially useful for quarantine tanks, conditioning breeders, and recovering fish.
  • Storage: Refrigerate after opening to preserve vitamin potency. Use within label-recommended timeframe once opened.

Great For

  • Tropical community fish — tetras, rasboras, livebearers, gouramis
  • African and South American cichlids
  • Axolotls and other amphibians
  • Freshwater shrimp (Neocaridina, Caridina) and snails
  • Quarantine tanks, hospital tanks, and new arrivals recovering from shipping

FAQ

Is this the same as the marine Vitachem?
The formula is tuned for freshwater systems. Boyd makes a separate marine Vitachem for saltwater — pick the bottle that matches your tank type.

Can I use Vitachem in a planted tank or shrimp tank?
Yes. There's no copper or harsh chemistry, so it's safe for live plants, freshwater shrimp (Neocaridina and Caridina), and snails.

How long does it last refrigerated?
Follow the label's "use by" date once opened. Refrigeration preserves potency — leaving it out at room temperature shortens shelf life.

Will it cloud my water?
No. At recommended doses Vitachem is invisible in the tank and won't cause cloudiness, foam, or color tint.

Direct dose or food soak — which is better?
Both work; soaking food gives more concentrated uptake (great for picky eaters and fry), while direct dosing covers ambient vitamin needs across the whole system. Many keepers do a mix of both.
