Product description

IceCap ROX 0.8 Premium Activated Carbon is a pharmaceutical-grade, pelletized carbon that pulls the yellow and green tint out of aquarium water and keeps it crystal clear. The uniform 0.8 mm pellets are low in dust and ash, so they rinse fast, resist crumbling, and will not blow fine particles through your system. It removes dissolved organics, phenols, odors, and the chemical compounds corals release against each other, which makes it a favorite for reef tanks and works just as well in freshwater. Round out your filtration with more filter media and saltwater supplies.

Why This Carbon

  • Pelletized 0.8 mm form is uniform and low dust, so it rinses quickly and does not clog filters
  • High activity removes tint, dissolved organics, phenols, and odors for crystal clear water
  • Helps control coral allelopathy, the chemical warfare between competing corals
  • Hard pellets resist crumbling, so less ash and fine particulate in the display
  • Works in reef, marine, and freshwater systems

How to Use

  • Rinse in RO or RO/DI water until it runs clear before use
  • Run in a media reactor for the best contact, or place it in a filter or media bag in an area of good flow
  • Use roughly a cup of carbon per 50 gallons as a starting point, then adjust to your system
  • Replace about every 3 to 4 weeks, or sooner if tint returns
  • Introduce a fresh batch gradually on sensitive reef tanks to avoid a rapid change in water clarity

FAQ

How much carbon do I use? A common starting point is about a cup per 50 gallons. Use less to run carbon lightly and continuously, or more for a fast cleanup.

How often should I replace it? Every 3 to 4 weeks is typical. If the water tint comes back sooner, swap it earlier.

Reactor or media bag? A reactor gives the best, most even contact. A media bag in a high flow area also works well.

Can I use it in freshwater? Yes. It is popular in reef tanks but works in marine and freshwater systems alike.
