Lemonpeel Angelfish - Medium (Centropyge flavissima) | Live Saltwater Fish
The Lemonpeel Angelfish (Centropyge flavissima) is a solid lemon-yellow dwarf angel with sky-blue highlights around the eyes, on the lips and on the fins. It is a semi-aggressive, moderate-care fish that spends its day picking over live rock for algae, and it packs more color per inch than almost anything else in a fish-only tank. This listing is for a medium specimen. Browse the rest of our saltwater livestock and supplies while you plan.
Care Guide
- Tank size: 70 gallons or larger with plenty of live rock. Adults reach about 5.5 inches and graze the rockwork all day.
- Water parameters: 72 to 78°F, pH 8.1 to 8.4, salinity 1.020 to 1.025, dKH 8 to 12.
- Diet: an omnivore that needs more algae than most angels. Offer marine algae such as Seaweed Select or SeaVeggies every day, an algae-rich food like Formula Two, and meaty foods such as PE Mysis.
- Grazing: in the wild it feeds mainly on filamentous algae, so a mature tank with algae-covered rock keeps it busy and well fed between meals.
- Corals: reef safe with caution. It is known to nip large-polyp stony corals and clam mantles.
- Add it last: let your peaceful fish settle in first so the angel doesn't claim the whole rockwork.

Compatibility
Keep one dwarf angel per tank. Lemonpeels do not get along with other Centropyge such as Flame Angels, Coral Beauties or Bicolor Angels. Good tankmates are fish that can hold their own: clownfish like our Snowflake Ocellaris, Pajama Cardinalfish, gobies such as the True Yellow Watchman Goby, blennies and basslets, plus tangs and wrasses in larger systems.

FAQ
Is the Lemonpeel Angelfish reef safe?
With caution. It is known to nip large-polyp stony corals and clam mantles, so it suits a fish-only tank or a reef without those.
Can I keep it with another dwarf angel?
We don't recommend it. Dwarf angels of the same genus treat each other as rivals, so one per tank is the safe rule.
What should I feed it?
Algae first. It needs more algae and seaweed than most angels, so offer a seaweed sheet every day plus spirulina or algae-based foods, along with mysis and other meaty foods.
How big does it get?
About 5.5 inches (14 cm) as an adult.
