Red Racer Nerite Snail (Vittina waigiensis)
The Red Racer Nerite Snail (Vittina waigiensis) combines vivid red and golden shell bands with dark racing patterns. This peaceful grazer browses algae and biofilm on glass, rocks and wood without damaging healthy plants. Sold individually. Shell colors and markings vary; the image represents the species.
For another patterned algae grazer, see our Racetrack Nerite Snail.
Care Guide
Choose a mature, cycled aquarium with established algae and biofilm. We recommend 10 gallons or larger to provide grazing space and stable water. Keep a secure lid because nerites can climb above the waterline. Acclimate gradually and avoid sudden changes.
Moderately hard, mineral rich water with a pH above 7 helps protect the shell. Avoid acidic conditions and copper based medications. Maintain zero ammonia and nitrite, and keep up with routine water changes.
