Seachem Alkaline Regulator
Seachem Alkaline Regulator is a phosphate-based buffer that raises and holds freshwater pH in the alkaline range of 7.1 to 7.6. It is ideal for alkaline-loving fish such as African cichlids, rainbowfish, livebearers, and goldfish, and it pairs with Seachem Acid Regulator so you can dial in and lock any target pH.

How It Works
Unlike simple buffers, Alkaline Regulator uses a phosphate buffering system that locks pH firmly in place once your target is reached, so it resists the daily pH swings that stress fish. Used on its own it pushes pH up into the 7.1 to 7.6 band. Combined with Acid Regulator, the two work as a pair to set and maintain almost any pH you need.
Dosing
- Use 1 level teaspoon (about 5 g) per 40 to 80 L (10 to 20 US gallons) daily until your intended pH is reached.
- After that, dose once a month or with each water change to hold pH steady.
- Adjust pH gradually. Give fish time to acclimate rather than swinging pH quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Alkaline Regulator do?
It raises freshwater pH and locks it in the alkaline range of 7.1 to 7.6 using a phosphate buffer, which resists the daily pH drift that stresses fish.
Is this for freshwater or saltwater?
Freshwater only. It is safe for all freshwater fish acclimated to alkaline pH.
What if I overshoot my target pH?
Pair it with Seachem Acid Regulator. Together the two let you set and hold almost any pH precisely.
How often do I need to dose?
Dose daily until you reach your target pH, then only once a month or with water changes to maintain it.
