Aquatic plants need both micro nutrients (trace elements and iron) and macro nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium). Most planted tanks begin with the Fundamentals pack, then add NPK once fast-growing stem plants, carpeting species, or CO2 injection push nutrient demand higher. Level 1: Fundamentals

• Flourish Excel — a source of bioavailable organic carbon for plants, a simple entry point for tanks without pressurized CO2.

Level 2: Enhancer NPK

How to Use It

Every bottle includes a dosing cap and full label directions. As a general guide, dose Flourish and Flourish Iron once or twice a week, dose Flourish Excel daily or every other day, and dose the NPK supplements to reach your target nitrate, phosphate, and potassium levels. Always follow the individual bottle instructions and test your water, then adjust to how your plants respond. Shake well before use and dose into an area of good circulation.

Which pack should I start with?
Start with Level 1: Fundamentals. It covers trace elements, iron, and carbon, which is all most low- to medium-light tanks need. Add Level 2: NPK when you run CO2, high light, or fast-growing plants and notice nutrient deficiencies.

Are these safe for fish, shrimp, and snails?
Yes. When dosed according to the label, the Flourish line is safe for fish and invertebrates. Dose gradually and observe, especially in shrimp tanks, since sensitive species appreciate a conservative approach.

Do I still need CO2?
No. Flourish Excel provides a bioavailable carbon source that works well in low-tech tanks. If you do run pressurized CO2, these supplements complement it and help you avoid nutrient limitation.
