Product description

In-store pickup only. Your order is reserved, we hold off on bagging until you arrive so it stays healthy in its display tank.

The Silverado Bumblebee Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) wears precious metal up front and honey out back: a bright metallic silver body marked with smoky bumblebee patches, finished with a glowing golden-orange tail and matching dorsal. It is one of the flashier fancy strains we carry, and like every guppy it is hardy, peaceful, endlessly active, and beginner friendly. Care Guide

  • Tank size: 5 gallons or larger for a small group; 10 and up gives a display school room to shine.
  • Water parameters: 72 to 82°F, pH 6.8 to 8.0. Guppies prefer harder, more alkaline water with some mineral content.
  • Feeding: omnivore. A color-enhancing staple like Hikari Fancy Guppy plus frozen or freeze-dried treats a few times a week keeps the silver bright and the gold glowing.
  • Company: happiest in groups. Keep males-only for pure sparkle, or add females and let the colony grow.
  • Plants and lid: dense plants like Guppy Grass shelter fry, and a lid stops surprise jumps.

FAQ

What makes it a "Silverado"?
The strain's signature metallic silver body. The bumblebee part comes from the smoky dark patches over the silver, and the tail brings the gold. Each male's pattern is a little different.

Will they breed with my other guppies?
Yes. All fancy guppy strains are the same species, so mixed tanks produce mixed fry. Keep the Silverados to themselves if you want to preserve the line.

How many should I get?
Groups of 3 or more show the best behavior. A males-only trio stays flashy with zero population growth; add females and expect fry within a month.

Are they hard to keep?
Not at all. Clean, slightly hard water, quality food, and a heater are the whole recipe. They are one of the best first fish in the hobby.
