Product description

In-store pickup only. Your order is reserved, we hold off on bagging until you arrive so it stays healthy in its display tank.

The Wyoming White Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) is a striking designer clownfish, selectively bred from the standard Ocellaris to show a clean, mostly white body with a vivid orange face and bold black edging that deepens as the fish matures. Captive-bred and exceptionally hardy, it is peaceful, reef-safe, and one of the easiest saltwater fish to keep, which makes it a perfect centerpiece for beginners and a favorite of seasoned reefers. Care Guide

Wyoming Whites are an excellent first saltwater fish. Because they are tank-raised, they readily accept prepared foods and shrug off the stress that bothers wild-caught fish. Give them a stable, established reef or fish-only system of at least 20 gallons with plenty of rockwork to claim as territory. Keep the temperature between 74 and 78°F, pH at 8.1 to 8.4, and salinity at 1.020 to 1.025. Feed a varied omnivore diet of frozen or live mysis and brine shrimp along with quality marine flakes or pellets and some algae-based food, offered two to three times a day in small amounts. They can be kept singly, as a bonded pair, or as a small group started young, and while they do not need an anemone in captivity, they will often host a bubble-tip anemone if one is present.

Compatibility

Wyoming Whites are social and get along well with other peaceful reef fish, corals, and non-aggressive invertebrates. They can be territorial toward their own kind, so keep only one clownfish or a bonded pair, and avoid mixing them with clownfish from other genera. They pair beautifully with a host anemone such as our Green Bulb (Bubble-Tip) Anemone, though one is not required for them to thrive.

FAQ

Is the Wyoming White good for beginners?
Yes. As a captive-bred Ocellaris, it is hardy, disease-resistant, and already used to aquarium life and prepared foods, making it one of the best starter saltwater fish.

Does it need an anemone?
No. Wyoming Whites do not require an anemone to be healthy and will often perch in rockwork or corals instead. They will happily host a bubble-tip anemone if you choose to add one.

Can I keep more than one?
Keep a single fish or a bonded pair. A small group can work if started young in a larger tank, but do not mix them with other clownfish species, as they can be territorial.

Will it bother my corals or inverts?
No. Wyoming Whites are reef-safe and coexist peacefully with corals and non-aggressive invertebrates.
