• Shake well before each use — diatoms settle in the bottle.
• Suggested dose: Start at 1 mL per 10 gallons daily, adjust based on coral response and water clarity. Heavy SPS/LPS systems can dose 2x daily.
• Where to dose: Pour directly into a high-flow area of the tank or into the refugium. Lights-on or lights-off both work; many reefers prefer lights-off to extend uptake time before skimming.
• Skimmer: Consider turning the protein skimmer off for 30–60 minutes after dosing to maximize uptake by corals and pods.
• Storage: Refrigerate immediately upon receiving. Keep tightly sealed. Do not freeze. Consume within the freshness window printed on the bottle.

What's in the Diatom Blend?
It's a live blend of golden-brown diatom phytoplankton — typically Chaetoceros, Phaeodactylum, and similar diatom species. Diatoms are particularly rich in HUFAs (especially EPA), amino acids, and the pigments that drive coral coloration.

How is this different from green phyto like Nannochloropsis?
Green phyto (like Nannochloropsis) is a great staple. Diatoms add a different fatty-acid profile, different cell sizes, and different pigments — many reefers run both for a more complete nutritional spectrum, just like rotating frozen foods.

How do I store it?
Refrigerate it as soon as you get home — do not let it sit out, and do not freeze. Keep the cap tight, and shake well before each dose. Use within the freshness window on the bottle.

Is it reef-safe?
Yes — it's designed specifically for reef aquariums. It will not harm corals, inverts, or fish at recommended doses.

Will it cause an algae bloom in my display?
At normal doses, no — corals, pods, and filter feeders consume diatoms quickly. Overdosing or dosing into a tank with high nutrients can contribute to nuisance algae, so start small and increase based on results.
