CoralVue Hydros Salinity Probe Kit
Keep an eye on your reef's salinity around the clock, right from the HYDROS app. The HYDROS Salinity Probe Kit from CoralVue pairs a lab-grade K-10 conductivity probe with 28 ppt and 35 ppt calibration solutions, everything you need to add continuous salinity monitoring to a compatible HYDROS controller. Once it's calibrated, your controller graphs salinity over time and sends you a notification if the reading drifts outside the safe range you set.

Why Reefers Choose the HYDROS Salinity Kit
- Ready to calibrate out of the box. Probe plus 100 mL each of 28 ppt and 35 ppt calibration solution.
- Two-point calibration. Calibrating at both 28 ppt and 35 ppt, spanning the normal reef range, gives more accurate readings than a single-point calibration.
- Twist-lock BNC connection. Plugs straight into the light-blue Conductivity/Salinity probe port on a compatible HYDROS controller.
- Temperature-compensated readings. Link a HYDROS temperature sensor to the salinity input in the app for more accurate results.
- Alerts and graphs. Set a safe range, get notified when salinity leaves it, and track trends over time.
- Ready for isolated testing. Pair it with a HYDROS iV PRO (sold separately) to read salinity in an isolated vessel, free of stray voltage from pumps and heaters.

Setup and Calibration
- Break in the probe. New conductivity probes take 1 to 3 weeks to settle. HYDROS suggests a 24-hour soak in rubbing alcohol with the tip and both side vent holes submerged, then recalibrating at least weekly for the first three weeks.
- Connect. Twist the BNC connector clockwise onto your controller's light-blue Salinity port.
- Add the input. In the HYDROS app, add a new input with Type set to Probe Port, Probe Mode set to Salinity, and Probe K set to 10. Choose your temperature sensor as the Temperature Input, then upload the changes.
- Warm the solutions. Float both calibration bottles in your sump for at least 10 minutes so they match your tank temperature.
- Calibrate 35 ppt, then 28 ppt. Remove the storage cap, place the probe in the 35 ppt solution, and swirl to clear air bubbles from the tip. Tap Calibrate, wait the full 2 minutes, then Accept. Rinse the probe with RODI water, dry the tip, and repeat with the 28 ppt solution.
- Fine-tune. Use the Offset setting for small corrections. If the reading is far off, recalibrate or replace the probe.

FAQ
Which HYDROS controllers does it work with?
Any HYDROS controller with a light-blue Conductivity/Salinity probe port, including the Control X10, Launch, and Control X3-S. Running a Control X4 or X3? Their probe ports are pH/ORP, so add a Launch to your Collective. Collective devices share their inputs, so salinity shows up in the same app.
What comes in the box?
The K-10 probe plus 100 mL each of 28 ppt and 35 ppt calibration solution. The controller, temperature sensor, and iV PRO are sold separately.
Why is my new probe's reading slowly dropping?
That is normal during the 1 to 3 week break-in, when tiny air bubbles collect in the probe. Blow air through the tip and vent holes, recalibrate, and readings will settle once break-in is complete.
How often should I recalibrate?
At least once a week for the first three weeks. After that, compare it with a trusted reference like a refractometer from time to time, and recalibrate whenever the two start to disagree.
