Frank's F-Aiptasia Reef Safe Aiptasia Fix

F-Aiptasia is a reef safe treatment for aiptasia, the glass anemones that hitchhike in on live rock and coral frags and then sting corals and spread across the rockwork. You apply it straight onto the pest anemone with the included syringe. Frank's Aquarium Products says it forms a shell over the anemone within about 30 minutes, trapping the caustic product inside and robbing it of the ability to release reproductive spores into the aquarium. Why This One

• Reef safe. Frank's lists F-Aiptasia as reef safe when it is used as directed.
• No injection needed. You cover the anemone rather than injecting it, and Frank's says there is no need to siphon the anemone out afterwards.
• No effect on water chemistry. That is Frank's own claim for the formula.
• Coralline color. The paste is tinted to blend in with coralline algae.
• Everything is in the box. Bottle, stir stick, 3 mL syringe and both straight and angled nozzles.

How to Use It

These are the directions printed on the box:

1. Turn off all powerheads before using this product.
2. Stir F-Aiptasia with the included stir stick and shake well before use.
3. Attach one of the included straight or angled nozzles to the 3 mL syringe and fill it.
4. Apply F-Aiptasia directly to the aiptasia anemones, making sure to completely cover each one. They retract as you start to cover them.
5. Leave powerheads off for 30 minutes, until the product hardens.
6. About five days later, brush the hardened shell away and remove it.

Before the first use: Frank's asks you to stir with the supplied stick and shake vigorously when the bottle arrives and again before every use, because the product separates. If it has hardened in the bottle, Frank's says it is safe to add a small amount of RO/DI water and stir well.

Warning printed on the box: do not allow the product to come into contact with live coral. Keep it out of reach of children and avoid contact with eyes.

FAQ

Is it safe for my corals?
Frank's lists F-Aiptasia as reef safe, and the box warns that the product must not come into contact with live coral. Apply it directly onto the pest anemone with the powerheads off, so nothing drifts onto your corals.

How long does it take?
The product hardens into a shell in about 30 minutes with the flow off. Frank's says you brush the shell away about five days later.

Do I need to inject the anemone or siphon it out?
No. Frank's says no injection is required and there is no need to siphon the anemone out of the tank after application.

The bottle looks separated or thick. Is it bad?
No. Frank's notes the product tends to separate, so stir it with the included stick and shake vigorously before each use. If it has hardened, Frank's says a small amount of RO/DI water stirred in is safe.
