Product description

In-store pickup only. This frozen food stays in our freezer until you arrive, so it reaches you solidly frozen.

Pro Salt Silversides are small whole fish, about 2 to 3 inches long, individually quick frozen. They are a natural, whole-prey food for fish-eating predators such as lionfish, groupers, moray eels, triggers and puffers, and for large predatory freshwater fish. Browse more frozen foods.

Why Pro Salt IQF

  • Individually quick frozen (IQF). Every piece is frozen separately and packed loose in a resealable tub, so you take out exactly what you need and put the rest straight back in the freezer. No thawing or breaking a whole block.
  • Whole fish. Bones, skin and organs included, the way a predator would eat in the wild.
  • A safer switch from live feeders. Frozen silversides let you feed predators without bringing live feeder fish, and the diseases they can carry, into your tank.

How to Feed

Take out the fish you need and thaw them in a little tank water. Offer them one at a time, by hand with feeding tongs or dropped into the current, and stop when your fish loses interest. Remove anything left over so it does not foul the water. Use silversides as part of a varied diet.

FAQ

My lionfish only eats live food. Will it take these?
Many predators need to be weaned onto frozen food. Try wiggling a thawed silverside on feeding tongs so it looks alive, and be patient. Ask us in store and we will help.

How often should I feed a predator?
Most adult predators do well fed a few times a week rather than every day. Ask us about your specific fish.

5 oz or 10 oz?
The 5 oz tub is a good way to try it or to feed one or two fish. The 10 oz tub costs less per ounce for bigger fish or several tanks.
