Why This Salt
- Pharmaceutical grade raw materials. That is the whole pitch, and it is why the mixed water tests clean.
- No detectable nitrate or phosphate. Nothing feeding algae on day one of a water change.
- Alkalinity held low on purpose. Around 7 dKH rather than the 9 to 12 some salts mix to. That suits a tank being dosed to a stable number and is kinder to SPS than a high-alkalinity swing at every water change.
- Calcium and magnesium already at natural seawater levels, so a water change is not quietly moving your parameters.

How to Mix
- Use RO or RO/DI water, never tap water.
- Add roughly half a cup of salt per US gallon, which is about 35 ml per litre. Always add salt to water, never water to salt.
- Mix at 73 to 77 F with a powerhead running, and aerate until the solution is fully dissolved and clear. A few hours to overnight is normal.
- Check with a refractometer before use. Tropic Marin give a working range of 1.025 to 1.027 specific gravity at that temperature, which is roughly 32 to 35 ppt.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the alkalinity only 7 dKH?
That is deliberate. Pro-Reef mixes near natural seawater rather than high, so water changes do not shunt your alkalinity around. If you run a higher number you top it up with your usual dosing instead of relying on the salt.
Is it good for SPS?
Yes. The purity and the stable, seawater-level parameters are exactly why SPS keepers reach for it.
What water should I use?
RO or RO/DI only. Mixing a high-purity salt into tap water throws away what you paid for.
How much salt per gallon?
Start at about half a cup per US gallon, then check with a refractometer and adjust in small additions.
Why is it pickup only?
