Ultra Orange & Electric Blue Stripe Scoly (Scolymia sp.)
The Ultra Orange & Electric Blue Stripe Scoly (Scolymia sp.) is a jaw-dropping LPS centerpiece, a single fleshy disc that glows fiery orange and red with a bold electric-blue stripe across the polyp. Scolys are slow-growing, hardy show corals that stay put on the sand bed, making them a perfect statement piece for a calm corner of an established reef.
Corals are living animals. The photo shows this coral around the time we received it, so its exact color and shape can vary a little and will continue to shift under your own lighting.

Care Guide
Scolys are forgiving for an LPS, but they do best with gentle conditions that match the deeper water they come from.
- Lighting. Low to moderate, roughly 50 to 100 PAR. Scolys come from deeper water and will bleach or brown out under intense light, so keep them lower in the tank.
- Flow. Low and indirect. Strong flow stops the polyp from inflating and can tear the soft tissue. Aim for a gentle wash over the coral.
- Placement. Set it on the sand bed at the bottom of the tank with space around it. It can extend sweeper tentacles at night, so leave a few inches of clearance from neighboring corals.
- Feeding. Photosynthetic, but it responds very well to target feeding. Offer mysis, small chunks of meaty seafood, or LPS pellets a couple of times a week to boost color and growth.
- Water. Keep stable reef parameters: temperature 75 to 80°F, salinity 1.024 to 1.026, and steady alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium. A little nutrient in the water actually helps LPS hold their color.

Compatibility
- Reef-safe with fish and ornamental invertebrates. It will not bother tankmates.
- Give it open space on the sand bed. It can extend sweeper tentacles at night and sting corals it touches, so leave a few inches of clearance from neighbors.
- Keep it out of the direct path of powerheads and away from aggressive, fast-growing corals.
- Pairs nicely with other LPS in a calm, lower-flow part of the tank.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where should I place it?
On the sand bed in low, indirect flow and low-to-moderate light. Too much light or flow will stress a scoly.
Do I need to feed it?
It gets energy from light, but target feeding meaty foods a couple of times a week brings out the best color and growth.
Is it aggressive?
It can extend sweeper tentacles at night and sting nearby corals, so give it a few inches of clearance from its neighbors.
Will it look exactly like the photo?
Very close. Corals are living animals, so color and shape can vary a little from the picture and will shift under your own lighting over time.
