ZooMed Jumbo Red Shrimp (Sun Dried)
Zoo Med Jumbo Red Shrimp are whole sun dried red shrimp (Solenocera melantho), a protein rich treat for aquatic turtles, large freshwater and saltwater fish, and aquatic invertebrates. At 59% protein with nothing else added, a few shrimp turn an ordinary feeding into the highlight of the day, and keepers often notice better weight and vigor within days.
Keep the everyday diet anchored with a staple like Zoo Med ReptiSticks or Zoo Med Gourmet Aquatic Turtle Food, and use these as the reward.
Why Sun Dried Shrimp
Whole shrimp are about as close to natural prey as a jarred food gets. Turtles get the excitement of tearing into real prey, big fish like oscars and large cichlids hit them hard, and the shells provide natural roughage. Sun drying preserves the shrimp without artificial preservatives.
How to Feed
- Offer as a high protein treat 3 to 4 times per week.
- Feed roughly 6 to 12 shrimp per animal, adjusted for size.
- Remove uneaten shrimp after about 5 minutes to protect water quality.
- Break shrimp into pieces for smaller mouths.

FAQ
Can fish eat these too?
Yes. Oscars, large cichlids, big catfish, and many marine fish love whole shrimp. Break them up for smaller mouths.
Is this a complete diet?
No, treat it as a supplement. Rotate it with a staple pellet or stick food so nutrition stays balanced.
Do they float or sink?
They float at first and soften as they absorb water. Give them a quick soak if you are feeding bottom dwellers.
Which jar should I get?
The 0.5 oz jar is a good trial size. The 2.5 oz jar makes more sense once shrimp are part of the weekly routine.
