ZooMed Turtle Lamp Combo Pack
Zoo Med Turtle Lamp Combo Pack covers both halves of a turtle's lighting needs in one box: a 50 watt Repti Tuff splashproof halogen lamp for basking heat and a 13 watt ReptiSun 5.0 UVB compact fluorescent. Mount the pair over the basking area and your turtle gets warmth to dry off plus the UVB it needs to make vitamin D3 and absorb calcium.
Aim both bulbs at a steady platform like the Zoo Med Turtle Dock. Want the fixture included too? The Zoo Med Aquatic Turtle UVB and Heat Lighting Kit bundles a dual dome with both bulbs.
Why Both Bulbs Matter
Basking heat lets aquatic turtles dry off and digest properly, but heat alone is not enough. Without UVB, turtles cannot produce vitamin D3, calcium absorption fails, and soft shells and metabolic bone disease follow. The Repti Tuff halogen is built to shrug off the splashes that crack ordinary basking bulbs, and the ReptiSun 5.0 delivers 5% UVB and 30% UVA output.
How to Use
- Install both bulbs in standard ceramic socket fixtures rated for their wattage. Fixtures are sold separately.
- Position them over the basking platform with nothing between the UVB bulb and your turtle. Glass and plastic filter out UVB.
- Run the lights about 12 hours on, 12 hours off.
- Replace the UVB bulb about every 12 months. It keeps glowing long after the UVB output fades.

FAQ
Do I need a special fixture?
Any standard ceramic socket fixture rated for at least 50 watts works. A dual dome lets you run both bulbs over the same basking spot.
Why do my basking bulbs keep burning out?
Splashes from a turtle climbing on and off the dock crack hot glass. The Repti Tuff halogen is splash resistant for exactly that reason.
How often should I replace the UVB bulb?
About once a year. UVB output drops well before the bulb stops making visible light.
Will this heat the water?
It warms the basking spot, not the tank. If your water runs cold, add a submersible aquarium heater.
