Aquatop GT-001 Floating Glass Aquarium Thermometer
The Aquatop GT-001 Floating Glass Aquarium Thermometer is the simple, dependable way to keep an eye on tank temperature. Stick it to the glass with the included suction cup or let it float, read the easy scale with its highlighted safe zone at a glance, and know in seconds whether your heater is doing its job. It works in freshwater and saltwater, needs no batteries, and floats if a fish or a water change knocks it loose, so it never ends up buried in the gravel. Pair it with a heater and the rest of our water care and monitoring gear.
Why You'll Love It
- Floats if it comes loose: a knocked-off thermometer bobs to the surface instead of hiding in the substrate.
- Two ways to mount: suction cup on the inside glass, or free-floating for tanks where you would rather not stick anything to the panels.
- Safe zone at a glance: the highlighted green band marks the range most tropical fish prefer, so a quick look tells you all is well.
- Dual scale: Fahrenheit and Celsius side by side.
- No batteries, no sensors, no drift: a liquid-filled glass thermometer is the classic backup to a digital controller and costs less than a coffee.
- Fresh or salt: glass and suction cup are safe in any aquarium.
How to Use
- Rinse the thermometer and suction cup in tank water.
- Press the suction cup onto a clean inside pane at eye level, away from the heater and the filter outflow so it reads the tank, not the equipment. Or simply drop it in to float.
- Give it a few minutes to settle, then read the column against the scale.
- Check it against a second thermometer now and then, and move it if algae builds up on the pane.

FAQ
How accurate is a glass thermometer? Accurate enough for a home aquarium: it tells you the tank is holding in the safe zone and warns you when a heater sticks on or fails. For fine control, pair it with a digital controller and use this as the independent check.
Where should I put it? On the front or side pane at eye level, away from the heater and filter return, so it reads the water your fish live in rather than the warmest or coolest spot.
What if it breaks? Remove every piece of glass right away and do a partial water change. Keep it out of the path of large fish and away from rock that could pin it.
Does it work in a reef tank? Yes. The glass and suction cup are safe in saltwater; just keep the suction cup clean of coralline so it holds.
