Eshopps Eclipse Slim Drilled Overflow Box
The Eshopps Eclipse is a low-profile drilled overflow for tanks that deserve a cleaner look than a hang-on box. A slim black weir box sits inside the tank and takes up just 1.25 in of depth, water passes through a 1.5 in transfer bulkhead in the back glass into the clear external box, and two or three 1 in drains carry it down to the sump. The drilling template and 60 mm hole saw are in the box, so you can convert a standard tank yourself. Browse our sumps, skimmers and filtration and the return pumps and plumbing that finish the job. How It Works
Water spills over the 1/4 in teeth of the internal box, which keeps surface film moving and holds the tank's water line at a fixed height. It flows through the transfer bulkhead into the external box on the back of the tank, then out through the 1 in drain bulkheads in the bottom. With two drains you can run a Herbie setup: one full siphon drain that runs silent and one open emergency drain that only carries water if the siphon clogs. The Eclipse L adds a third drain for a Bean Animal configuration, a siphon, an open channel and an emergency, which is the quietest and safest drain arrangement in the hobby.

Which Model Is Right for You?
Eclipse S for tanks up to 75 gallons with a return pump moving up to 600 GPH at your sump-to-tank height.
Eclipse M for tanks up to 100 gallons, same single hole and two-drain layout, up to 800 GPH.
Eclipse L for 100 to 150 gallon tanks. Two transfer bulkheads, three drains and up to 1,000 GPH, with the option of a Bean Animal stack.
Size to the return pump, not just the tank. Check the pump's flow at your real head height, keep it under the overflow rating, and remember the siphon line needs a gate valve (not included) to tune a Herbie or Bean Animal drain.
Drilling and Installation Tips
Drill before the tank is set up, or drain it fully first. Tape the template to the outside of the back glass at the height it indicates, keep the hole saw wet and let it cut at low speed with light pressure. Deburr and dry the hole, fit the transfer bulkhead with its gasket on the inside of the glass and tighten by hand only. Hang the external box on the bulkhead, plumb the drains with 1 in PVC, start the return pump slowly and adjust the siphon valve until the water in the external box holds steady with the emergency drain dry.

FAQ
Does my tank have to be drilled?
Yes. The Eclipse needs one 60 mm hole in the back glass (two on the Eclipse L). The template and hole saw are included, and only non-tempered glass can be drilled.
Herbie or Bean Animal?
Herbie uses two drains, a valved full siphon and an open emergency, and works on every Eclipse. Bean Animal adds a third open channel drain for the quietest and most forgiving setup and needs the three drains of the Eclipse L.
What pipe do the drains take?
The drain bulkheads are 1 in slip, so 1 in PVC glues straight in. Use a barb adapter if you prefer flexible tubing to the sump.
Is a gate valve included?
No. A gate valve on the siphon line is what tunes a Herbie or Bean Animal drain, so add one to your plumbing list.
What happens in a power outage?
The tank drains only down to the teeth of the internal box, then stops. Leave room in the sump for that volume plus what siphons back through the return line.
Can I use it on a freshwater tank?
Yes. Any sump-based system works, fresh or salt.
