Quantum Bio-Kalium
Quantum Bio-Kalium is a bioactive color enhancer built to deepen the reds and pinks in your reef. It supplies complexed potassium and boron, two elements corals lean on for warm-toned pigments and healthy skeletal growth. Potassium works as a nutrient transporter that helps move color-building compounds through coral tissue, while boron supports the aragonite corals use to build their skeletons. If your red planet, pink birdsnest, or rainbow acros have lost their warmth, this is the potassium boost that brings them back. Browse the rest of our reef additives and supplements.
How It Works
Red and pink coral pigments respond strongly to potassium. Potassium acts as a nutrient transporter inside coral tissue, helping shuttle the building blocks of warm-toned chromoproteins where they are needed. Boron rounds out the formula by supporting aragonite production, the calcium carbonate skeleton corals grow on. Both elements are drawn down steadily in a busy reef, so Bio-Kalium keeps them topped up between water changes and lets your reds and pinks hold their intensity.
Features
Dosing
Add Bio-Kalium into an area of high water flow. Dose daily based on how heavily your reef is stocked, then fine-tune to keep potassium between 375 and 400 ppm and boron between 4 and 5 ppm. As a reference, 1 mL per 100 L (26 gal) raises potassium by roughly 1 ppm, with boron rising proportionally. Test potassium regularly and dose to your results.
| Stocking Level | Daily Dose |
|---|---|
| Lightly stocked | 0.50 mL per 100 L (26 gal) |
| Moderately stocked | 0.75 mL per 100 L (26 gal) |
| Heavily stocked | 1.00 mL per 100 L (26 gal) |
| Target | Potassium 375 to 400 ppm, boron 4 to 5 ppm |
Keep potassium stable. Big swings stress corals, so dose to test results rather than chasing a number.
Choose Your Size
All four sizes are the same formula. Pick based on system volume and how you dose.
| Size | Approx. Duration* | Best For | SKU |
|---|---|---|---|
| 250 mL | ~4 months | Nano and small reefs, or a first trial | BK250 |
| 500 mL | ~8 months | Standard reef tanks, most popular size | BK500 |
| 1000 mL (1 L) | ~15 months | Large or heavily stocked reefs | BK1000 |
| 5000 mL (5 L) | Years | Big systems, frag farms, and auto-doser refills, best value | BK5000 |
*Approximate, based on 0.75 mL per 100 L per day on a 75-gallon reef. Your actual usage scales with tank volume and stocking.
The Quantum Bioactive Color System
Bio-Kalium is one of the Step 4 Bioactive Color Elements. Each bottle in the line drives a different part of the spectrum, and they are designed to run together for the full effect:
- Bio-Kalium (this product): reds and pinks, via potassium and boron
- Bio-Gen: whites, blues, and violets, via halogens
- Bio-Metals: greens and yellows, via iron and manganese
- Bio-Enhance: the biomolecule base that ties the system together
Run them as a set to supply the full range of biomolecules and major, minor, and trace coloring elements your corals need.

FAQ
Will Bio-Kalium make my corals more red?
It intensifies the red and pink pigments corals already have by keeping potassium and boron topped up. It will not add color a coral is not capable of, but it helps faded warm tones come back.
Why does potassium matter for color?
Potassium acts as a nutrient transporter, helping move the compounds corals use to build red and pink chromoproteins. Low or swinging potassium often shows up as dull, browned-out warm tones.
How does this differ from Bio-Metals and Bio-Gen?
Bio-Metals drives greens and yellows, Bio-Gen drives whites, blues, and violets, and Bio-Kalium drives reds and pinks. They target different parts of the spectrum and are meant to run together.
Can I run it on an auto-doser?
Yes. It is a stable liquid made for daily dosing and runs cleanly through any dosing pump. Add it to a high-flow area of the tank.
