SFBB Baby Brine Shrimp Cube 1.75oz
SFBB Frozen Baby Brine Shrimp are newly hatched brine shrimp (Artemia spp.), the gold-standard first food for raising fish fry in both fresh and salt water. Hatched from decapsulated cysts and frozen at their most nutritious, they give you live-food quality without the daily hatching, and they double as a perfect small food for nano fish, seahorses, mandarins, and reef tanks. Each 1.75 oz box holds 36 pre-portioned mini-cubes, sized for desktop and nano aquariums.
Pair them with other frozen foods for growing fish like SFBB Frozen Rotifers (an even smaller first food) and SFBB Frozen Mysis Shrimp as fry grow up, or browse all of our frozen and prepared foods.
Why frozen baby brine shrimp
- The classic fry food. Newly hatched brine shrimp are the food most breeders reach for to raise healthy fry, in both freshwater and marine tanks.
- No hatching required. Frozen cubes give you the nutrition of freshly hatched brine shrimp without setting up a hatchery every day.
- Tiny and clean. Hatched from decapsulated cysts, so there are no shells to foul the water, and the small size suits fry, nano fish, and filter feeders.
- Great for reef tanks. Seahorses, mandarins, small wrasses, and many corals and filter feeders readily take baby brine shrimp.
- Safely processed. San Francisco Bay Brand freezes its brine shrimp to help reduce the parasites and bacteria that can come with live food.
How to feed
Thaw one mini-cube in a small cup of tank water for a minute or two, then pour it into the aquarium or target-feed fry and small fish with a pipette. For fry, offer small amounts several times a day; for nano and reef tanks, feed once or twice a day. Remove anything left uneaten, and do not microwave or refreeze a thawed cube.

FAQ
Is this good for raising fry?
Yes. Newly hatched brine shrimp is the classic first food for fish fry in both freshwater and marine tanks, and frozen cubes save you from hatching your own every day.
What does "hatched from decapsulated cysts" mean?
The brine shrimp eggs have had their hard shells removed before hatching, so there are no empty shells to foul your water, just clean, nutritious nauplii.
Can bigger fish eat it too?
Yes, small and nano fish, seahorses, and mandarins love baby brine shrimp. Larger fish can eat it as well, just in bigger amounts.
How long does a box last?
Kept solidly frozen, the cubes stay good for months. Just avoid thaw-and-refreeze cycles, which break down the food and can foul your water.
