Product description

Vitalis Algae Pellets 1mm are the herbivore staple in the Vitalis marine range: a blend of five seaweeds and algae bound with marine protein into a soft pellet that sinks slowly and stays whole. Tangs, rabbitfish and angels that graze all day get the plant matter their gut is built for, without the waste of nori that breaks apart in the flow. Feed it alongside Vitalis Marine Pellets for the omnivores in the same tank. See all saltwater dry foods.

Features

  • Five species of seaweed and algae, not a fish pellet with a green dye
  • Soft, slow-sinking 1mm pellet that grazers can pick at over several minutes
  • Water stable up to 24 hours, so a slow eater is not fouling the tank
  • Low temperature manufacturing keeps vitamins and pigments intact
  • 140g resealable pot, made in the UK by World Feeds

Who it is for

Tangs and surgeonfish, rabbitfish and foxface, dwarf and large angels, butterflyfish, blennies, and any damsel or clownfish that likes to graze. Also a good rotation food for omnivores.

Feeding Guide

Feed a pinch two or three times a day for tangs, which graze constantly in the wild and do poorly on one big meal. Only add what is eaten in three minutes. Newly arrived tangs may take a few days to recognise pellets; keep offering a little alongside nori until they switch.

FAQ

Is this enough for a tang on its own? Yes as the daily staple, with nori or Marine Grazing Pellets a few times a week for variety and gut health.

Will my omnivores eat it? Almost all will. Clownfish, wrasses and damsels take it readily, which is why it works as a rotation food.

Why not just feed nori? Nori is fine, but it shreds in the flow and ends up in the overflow. A pellet delivers the same algae with far less waste.
