Product description

BRS Reef Chili Coral Food is the powdered, all-in-one coral diet that Bulk Reef Supply was founded on: bio-engineered zooplankton, spray-dried phytoplankton, freeze-dried rotifers and copepods, daphnia, spirulina and an Artemia nauplii replacement blended into a fine, shelf-stable powder. Mix a scoop with tank water, shake and pour, and every mouth in the tank gets a bite, from zoas and LPS to SPS, filter feeders and the fish that steal it. Choose the 0.65 oz jar to try it or the 1.4 oz jar for a stocked reef, pair it with the rest of our reef additives and supplements, and rotate it with a frozen treat such as PE Frozen Calanus.

Why Reef Chili

  • Complete coral nutrition: a broad mix of particle sizes and marine ingredients feeds soft corals, LPS, SPS, zoanthids, anemones and filter feeders in one dose.
  • Growth, color and polyp extension: the zooplankton and phytoplankton base is what corals actually capture in the wild.
  • Shelf stable: a dry powder with no refrigeration or thawing needed; keep the lid tight and it lasts 3 to 4 months on the shelf, 9 to 12 in the fridge.
  • Scoop included: one level scoop per 20 gallons takes the guesswork out of dosing.
  • Made by BRS in the USA and one of the most reviewed coral foods in the hobby.

How to Feed

  1. Add one level scoop per 20 gallons of tank water to about half a cup of aquarium water.
  2. Shake or stir vigorously for 30 seconds so the powder disperses.
  3. Pour it into a high-flow area for broadcast feeding, or draw it into a baster and target feed each coral with the pumps turned down for a few minutes.
  4. Feed every other day to start and adjust to your tank's nutrient levels. Skimmers can be left running; turn them off only if the foam head goes wild.

Choose Your Size

0.65 oz jar A trial size or a nano reef; roughly a month of feedings on a small tank
1.4 oz jar The stocked-reef size, about twice the feedings for less per scoop

FAQ

Will it raise my nutrients? Any food adds nutrients. Start at every other day, watch nitrate and phosphate, and scale up or down. Target feeding wastes less than broadcast.

Do I turn the skimmer off? Not required. Some reefers pause the skimmer for 30 minutes while target feeding so the food stays in the tank longer.

Can fish eat it? Yes. Wrasses, anthias and other small-mouthed fish pick at the suspended particles, which is one reason a whole tank lights up at feeding time.

How long does a jar last? Depends on tank size and frequency. On a 40 gallon tank fed every other day, the 0.65 oz jar runs about a month; the 1.4 oz jar about two.
